browser tips and tricks
I saw this article written by Rick Broida over at PCWorld and it reminded me of a simple tip that you may or may not know.
If you hit the Control key and use the scroll mouse wheel at the same time, you make the text bigger or smaller, depending on what you need in you web browser. If you don’t have a scroll wheel, just use the Ctl + or Ctl – keys together to do the same function. This one is simple, but effective if you are showing someone some text over your shoulder or across the room.
I received a machine the other day that had malware on it that got past the AVG Antivirus suite. I decided to go to 2 tools that removed the problems. The first is to go to Malwarebytes.org and download that scanner. Just look in the center of the page for the download link….
Also, I ran the Clamwin Antivirus Scanner and was able to remove a virus that was affecting this machine. The scanner runs very fast and in low memory also.
Check it out at Clamwin.com

Windows Vista Tips and Tricks
Following the User access control theme from the last post, a better way to handle all those "Allow or Deny" pop ups is to silence them, sort of. Go to the site: http://www.tweak-uac.com/download/ to get the program Tweakuac. Once you download this, just run the program and I suggest selecting the option "Switch UAC to the quiet mode" and this way you are still protected from malware programs but have not turned it off leaving yourself vulnerable as the last post described. Check it out at TweakUAC.

The website printwhatyoulike.com is a great find. If you get aggravated with printing banners and ads on the web document you want to print, try this site. You can just select the item that you want to print and print it without all the extra stuff. Save a ton of ink. You can also just select an item to remove from the document if that makes it more convenient. Check it out.
